Media Training

The media are always with us, though whether they they are always with you, meaning supporting you, can be quite another matter. But you can make that more likely through training.

I have worked in newsrooms and watched what has happened when an organisation bungles its relations with the media by something as simple as a badly written statement or a badly handled phone call.

I have watched representatives of an organisation appearing hesitant and shifty in a broadcast merely because they had not taken the time and effort to have some basic media training.

One way of dealing with this is not to say anything to the media, in which case you hand the agenda over to somebody else, who might be a disinterested journalist or a very interested competitor.

And then there are new media, like this, which newspapers and broadcasters are now using as normal input.
